E-commerce scavenger hunt

For our store, The Sex Shed, I’ve created a scavenger hunt that guides players through a series of clues hidden across our website, with additional tasks like leaving comments on pages, participating in Reddit discussions and mentioning our brand, or commenting on YouTube videos.

 

The feedback has been fantastic so far, and every month 20-30 new participants join the hunt.

 

It’s been a great way to drive engagement and spread brand awareness across multiple platforms.

Kickstarter projects

I’ve been part of two successful Kickstarter projects for our small business.

 

The first, The eBook of Kinky Sex Ideas, was 253% funded and led to an illustrated sex guide that has generated nearly $29K in revenue over the years (and still brings in decent revenue for one eBook).

 

It also became a perfect lead magnet for our blog and newsletter, which now has around 9K subscribers.

 

As newcomers to Kickstarter, our project page wasn't exactly stellar, but despite that, the campaign and the guide turned out to be a huge success.

Our second project, Pleasure Burst, is a blend of games and experiences for couples, designed as part board games and part HTML/JavaScript-based interactive experiences.

 

The project is still ongoing, but we've already surpassed 770% of our funding goal and have begun development.

 

I’m handling the website and JavaScript, while my wife is focused on content, with illustrations by Gema Ledesma.

 

Stay tuned for updates and a roadmap for what promises to be a simple yet intricate project.

Newsletters

Focusing on building our email list has proven to be a great decision. Through lead magnets and high-quality content, I’ve built two separate newsletters.

 

The first, for our blog Spices of Lust, now has around 9K subscribers on ConvertKit and about 1,300 on Substack, with a healthy 40% open rate and 7% click rate.

 

Nicknamed Filthy, Beautiful Sex, this newsletter consistently drives traffic to our websites and affiliates, generating an additional $5K in premium content sales, which helps fund most of our content. 

 

The second newsletter, for our store The Sex Shed, has grown to around 3,200 subscribers, with a 37% open rate and 6% click rate.

 

This newsletter is more product-focused and less educational, contributing between 8% and 19% of the store’s monthly revenue.
